Ownership and listing
Blackstone, Carlyle and Hellman & Friedman agreed in June 2021 to buy a majority stake for about $34 billion. Medline filed its S-1 publicly on October 28, 2025, priced an upsized IPO of 216.03 million shares at $29.00 on December 16, 2025, raising $6.26 billion, and began trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market as MDLN on December 17. For the 12 months ended June 28, 2025, it reported $26.7 billion in revenue and $1.3 billion in net income. The sponsors sold down in two 2026 secondaries: 86.25 million Class A shares at $41.00 (closed March 10) and 72.55 million shares at $37.00 (priced May 21). Medline received no proceeds from either.
Results and recall
Second-quarter 2026 net sales rose 11.6% to $7.7 billion. Net income fell 58.3% to $139 million after a $336 million loss from a fire at the Tracy, California, distribution center. Jim Boyle is CEO. On October 14, 2026, Medline announced a voluntary recall of all Medline Brand beds, including homecare, bariatric and long-term care models, over a potential fire hazard, and said it is exiting the hospital bed market. Updated guidance, developed with the FDA, followed on October 24.
