Background

The Meuser and Kretchik families started the company in 1986 making lift chairs in a small building on Main Street in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Pride added scooters in 1992, launched the Jazzy mid-wheel-drive power chair in 1996, opened subsidiaries in Canada, the UK, Europe and Australia in 1998, and launched the Go-Go travel scooter in 2004. In 2022 the headquarters moved to a renovated facility at 401 York Avenue, Duryea. Pride lists operations in Las Vegas, Mississippi, Florida, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the UK. Scott Meuser, president since 1988, is chairman and CEO. Pride does not publish ownership details, employee counts or revenue. In December 2018 it sold its lifts and ramps division to Harmar Mobility.
