NOVA Medical Products

NOVA Medical Products makes and distributes walking aids and home safety equipment. Its site lists canes and crutches, folding walkers, rollators, transport chairs and wheelchairs, knee scooters, bathroom safety, commodes, cushions and wedges, and a heavy-duty bariatric line. The company sells through authorized dealers: the site carries a dealer login, a dealer locator and a separate dealer store, with no direct-to-consumer checkout.

Location and ownership

FDA enforcement records list the firm as Nova Ortho-Med Inc at 1470 Beachey Place, Carson, California. The company also runs a distribution center in North Aurora, Illinois. A vendor history published by a retailer says Sue Chen launched the US company in 1993 in El Segundo, California, with three employees, that it later moved to Carson, and that it descends from Nova Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Appliances, founded in Taichung, Taiwan in 1982. HME News identifies Chen as CEO. NOVA is privately held and does not publish revenue or headcount.

Recent moves

On September 19, 2024 NOVA launched a Test Drive Center Certification for independent pharmacies and HME retailers, per HME News. Stores must already hold SuperNOVA dealer status and put at least two staff through the NOVA MVP video training; certified stores get in-store marketing materials and priority placement on the dealer locator.

On August 26, 2024 the company began a Class II recall of its Monarch Rollator (model 4329RD) covering 1,585 units distributed in the US and Canada, after identifying that the backrest could lift out of its holder and detach, according to the FDA enforcement record. The FDA posted the recall October 23, 2024 and lists it as ongoing. NOVA’s own recall page lists the Monarch 4329 and the Home Bed Rail models 6093 and 6094.
