It fits and assembles custom manual and power wheelchairs and seating systems, and also sells home and vehicle accessibility equipment, medical supplies, and service and repair. The company says it operates more than 180 locations across the US and Canada, employs more than 2,400 people and supports more than 250,000 mobility solutions a year.

Ownership

NSM was established in 1992. It has been private-equity owned since 2012: Wellspring Capital Management (2012 to 2016), Court Square Capital Partners (2016 to 2019), then Cinven, which agreed to buy the company in October 2019 for a reported $850 million. Cinven’s 2019 announcement listed 149 branches and more than 1,850 employees. In August 2024, HME News reported that Cinven had engaged Harris Williams and Morgan Stanley to prepare a sale. No completed sale appeared in the trade press reviewed for this profile. Crispin Teufel, formerly CEO of Lincare, joined NSM as CEO in 2023.
