Motion Composites designs and manufactures ultralight folding and rigid manual wheelchairs in carbon fiber and aluminum at 160 Armand-Majeau Sud, Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, Quebec, about 30 minutes from Montreal. Its lines include the Apex and Veloce rigid frames, the Helio folding frame and the Move, plus NXT seating and positioning products and Newton parts and accessories. The company says its wheelchairs are distributed in more than 30 countries.
Éric Simoneau (president and CEO) and David Gingras founded the business. HME News reported in 2018 that it grew out of a 2005 school project, and the company says it launched its first ultralight wheelchair in 2008. The company does not publish a founding year, revenue or headcount; it is privately held. In 2019 it acquired Dynamic Health Care Solutions, and it later bought DPZ Services, a French distributor.
