Invacare makes and distributes home and long-term care medical equipment from Elyria, Ohio. Its North American catalog covers manual and powered wheelchairs, mobility scooters, power assist, seating and positioning, beds and mattresses, patient lifts and slings, and daily living aids, sold through a network the company puts at 200-plus dealers. Brands under the Invacare umbrella in North America include Matrx seating, Freedom Designs, Motion Concepts and Adaptive Switch Laboratories.
Ownership
Invacare Corporation and two U.S. subsidiaries filed Chapter 11 in early 2023 and emerged in May 2023 under a new parent, Invacare Holdings Corporation. HME News reported the restructuring removed $223 million of principal and unpaid interest. On November 11, 2024, Invacare Holdings sold its North American business to MIGA Holdings LLC, which shares owners with consumer products maker C+A Global of Edison, New Jersey. Terms were not disclosed. The European and Asia Pacific businesses went a different way: Rhône-affiliated vehicles entered exclusive talks in July 2025, and in February 2026 those operations combined with Direct Healthcare Group to form DHCare. The Invacare brand in the Americas now sits with MIGA.
