Hoveround Corporation sells power wheelchairs directly to consumers nationwide, handling insurance, out-of-pocket and financing payment paths and offering nationwide shipping and white-glove delivery. The company says more than 300,000 customers have chosen Hoveround over three decades. Its corporate headquarters is at 6015 31st Street East in Bradenton, Florida. Founder Tom Kruse started the company in Sarasota in 1992 as a direct-to-consumer manufacturer, and it describes itself as the largest direct-to-consumer power chair maker in the United States.
From maker to provider
In 2024 Hoveround launched Hoveround Mobility Solutions (HMS), a provider business that extends into complex rehab technology. On August 4, 2025, HMS and Merits Health Products USA announced a partnership. Merits stores and ships parts for Hoveround’s flagship MPV5 and provides technical and parts support to existing customers. HME News reported on August 8, 2025, that Hoveround will sunset its legacy MPV5, LX5, HD6, XHD and FWD models and offer Merits replacements, presenting Merits products first while remaining able to carry Permobil, Pride/Quantum and Sunrise Medical. The agreement is non-exclusive and both companies remain independent. HMS CEO Adam Frerichs told HME News, “Our specialty is not manufacturing.” The company’s own storefront now lists Permobil and Merits Vision power chairs alongside mobility scooters.
Ownership and scale
Hoveround is privately held. It does not publish revenue or headcount, and no current company page states an employee count.
